Gig roundup: Bands salute a friend at ScottFest

When local writer Scott Weinberger died unexpectedly last August at the age of 45, it was a shock to everyone who knew him. Now, some of his many local musician friends pay tribute to him with ScottFest, a concert and scholarship fundraiser at Club Garibaldi this week.

Gig roundup: The Low Anthem arrives with momentum

When this week's Milwaukee show -- Saturday, March 6 at the Riverside supporting The Avett Brothers -- was first booked, it was slated for Turner Hall Ballroom. But due in part to the Avetts, but certainly in part to opener The Low Anthem's growing momentum, the gig was moved to the Riverside to meet demand for tickets.

Milwaukee's Pawelski earns second Grammy nod

Milwaukee ex-pat Cheryl Pawelski, long a producer of CD reissue projects in the Los Angeles area, has earned her second Grammy nomination for her work on"Woodstock -- 40 Years On: Back To Yasgur's Farm," undertaken while she worked at Rhino Records.
